All In A Goode Family Weekend

Last weekend was a whirlwind of activity. Some weekends are just that way. Others, I sit at home and watch the plants grow!

So, to share our whirlwind with you, last weekend we:

Went to a baseball game 

What a lucky girl am I?  I had four handsome escorts to watch the Sugar Land Skeeters play last Friday night.  Sam, Will, Maddux and Davin

It was Star Wars Night at Constellation Field:
Davin and Maddux had a blast getting their picture made with this Storm Trooper!  Maddux looked for the Storm Troopers every time we left our seats!

Attended a wedding:

He is a party animal.  Meagan and Derrick had better watch out!

Went to a dance recital:

Her costume was of a kitty cat.  I wish y'all could have seen Davin's face when she finished her dance and came to sit with us.  His eyes got big and he was mesmerized by her 'fur'!  She LOVED all of the attention!  (Davin brought her the teddy bear...we all showered her with FOUR flower bouquets!  They were bigger than she was!)

The weekend was filled with reasons to celebrate and to enjoy one another.  I am so thankful for that opportunity.

My Favorite Bridal Portraits

I believe I mentioned that Brian took Bri's bridal portraits.  She really wanted hers taken outside on the property and Nicole, the talented photographer who took the portraits on my blog header and wallpaper, was unavailable.  So, I enlisted Brian to put to good use that semester of photography that Jim and I paid for at Blinn. 

My son has an artists eye for detail...but when he showed me the edited photos, I was blown away.  The following are some of my favorites.

Well, after all these pictures I still haven't shared what is the most important one according to Brooke.

The First Dance

Like Cinderella and Prince Charming...they are ready for their 'happily ever after' now.

After twirling around the dance floor to a Texas Two Step, he kisses his Bride.

Time for the Father/Daughter dance.  She chose the music.  "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw.  While Jim was barely able to hold it together on the dance floor, I sobbed sitting on my hay bale and watching. 

It was so appropriate.

Then we had the Mother/Son dance and Kim chose their song.  She made him laugh with her selection of  "Long Line of Losers" by Kevin Fowler.

Then it was time for the money dance.  All of the kids wanted to dance with Bri at once.

Meagan even made her brother pay for the priviledge.

Not too bad.  They racked up $100 to spend on their honeymoon!

The party lasted well into the night.  Here is Jim dancing with all three of his girls to his favorite song by Colt Ford.  "Dirt Road Anthem": the orginal as he likes to call it.  He thinks Jason Aldean stole it!  LOL!!  Oh well, gotta love him.

Most of the crowd left around 11 and by 1 it was mostly the immediate family left at the party.  When we saw Davin trying to get comfortable on the swing to go to sleep, we knew it was time to pack it up and head home!

It was a wonderful evening!

The Shindig: Part Two

Isn't this one of the loveliest wedding cakes you have ever seen?

It so perfectly fit our Miss Bri...chocolate and turquoise paisley.  However, I would strongly urge any future brides to refrain from chocolate frosting.  You will see why very soon.

That's okay.  She got him back good with this kiss.  She smeared chocolate all over his face too.

The grooms cake was so cute.  (There is a story behind it, as usual.)  But, what you can't see very well in this picture is the writing on top of the mud buried Dodge.

It says, "You're Really Stuck Now"

They were much more polite this time around...

...but there was no cake feeding with the Groom's cake.

The Shindig: Part One

How many men does it take to cook crawfish?

Well, when you have four hundred pounds to cook in two pots, it takes a lot!

This picnic table is filled with potatoes, corn, mushrooms, onions, garlic and lemons -- just the side dishes.

Here are two of my favorite crawfish chefs.

I wish I had taken a picture of all those crawfish.  There were lots!!  And they were delicious!!!

To begin the festivities, we called the Bride, Groom and the Parents together for a prayer.

We were so very blessed by the family that joined us to celebrate...and there were so many more that I wish could have joined us.
