Weekends Are Made For Spending Time With Friends

Jim is home!!! He got back last Friday with a couple of fresh turkeys for the freezer. I was at lunch with my friend, Lea Ann, when he called to tell me he was home. And what a lunch we had! Doesn't this almost look too pretty to eat?

Lea Ann is one of the first people I met when we moved to Houston in the late '80's. Our children grew up together, until they moved to College Station. For the next few years, we saw each other once a year...if we were lucky. But, when we moved out to Waller we decided it was time to get together more often.

Now we meet in the middle for lunch once a month. The 'middle' for us is Navasota, so we meet at Martha's Bloomers (you can't miss the big water tank that is shaped like a tea pot) and enjoy a light lunch, followed by a walk through the nursery and gift shop before heading home.

We have walked out with things as large as a stained glass window and as small as a herb plant. But we always walk out with a smile on our faces as we type the next month's lunch date into our phones and share a hug at the car.

And if that wasn't enough of a good time for the weekend...on Sunday afternoon, Jim and I were invited to attend the Houston Aeros hockey game with Stacy and Albert.

It was a trip full of surprises and once in a lifetime experiences. (You will have to ask Jim to tell you about his new best friend, Lynette, the next time you see him! LOL) I was snapping this picture with my iPhone when the Aeros made their first score of the day.

They went on to beat the Oklahoma City Barons 6-3...and will start the playoffs on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Goodes and Lozanos now have another memory to laugh over when we sit around and reminisce!

So, what did you do this weekend? Spend any time with your friends?
